Sign Language Instruction for Students with Hearing Impairments
Abstract
Special education for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID) has undergone
significant transformation over recent decades, moving from institutionalization to
inclusive, person-centered education. This paper explores current trends and future
perspectives in the education of students with intellectual disabilities, highlighting
inclusive practices, individualized learning, assistive technology, life skills training, and
transition planning. The discussion includes international frameworks, policy shifts, and
best practices that aim to ensure equitable, high-quality education and improved life
outcomes for students with ID
